Have you been hearing people talk about working with a coach, but you are wondering what all the hype is about?
You are not alone.
Unfortunately, until recently, coaching has only been accessible at the executive level in many organizations. Thankfully this dynamic IS starting to shift and many organizations are now offering coaching opportunities as part of their professional development budgets.
If you haven’t had the opportunity to work with a coach, here are a few insights into how coaching might be helpful and what to expect:
Coaching is a very client-centered approach- we set goals and outcomes for the entire coaching engagement and break them into manageable steps during each session based on what is important to YOU and what YOU want to achieve.
Sessions are client led- each time you come to a session, the coach will ask you what you want to focus on that day and what you want to achieve by the end of the session.
Coaching is not mentoring. It involves the coach asking you questions.
Research shows that when clients act on ideas that were self-generated and have come from within, they are more likely to follow through in the long term. We also know that many times our advice could be biased based on our own experiences and it might not be the best advice for you and your specific situation.
It’s not that the coach can’t share their insights or perspective, but we will ask for permission to share before.
It’s a safe and confidential space that is solely dedicated to you and what you are hoping to achieve in your life or career.
Sounds interesting? I encourage you to give it a try. For the month of April, I am offering a free 60-minute coaching session to give you a taste of what coaching is all about. Please reach out if you are interested in learning more!
